Potty Training is Torture...Help!

My son didn't show readiness until age two-and-a-half. We used a little potty chair at first but I just hated cleaning it out so we convinced him to sit on one of those cushiony toddler seats for the regular toilet. A friend recommended making a potty chart and putting a sticker on it for each successful trip to the bathroom. When he filled up the chart, his reward was a trip to the toy store. Quick update- My daughter is finally starting to get potty trained. I've heard from a lot of parents that the 2nd child always learns faster because they try to mimic their older sibling. Since she is my first child...this didn't help me too much. One day, I searched for potty training videos online and found a ton of differenct ones on youtube. I know it sounds weird..but she actually wanted to try going on the potty once she saw kids her own age trying it in the videos!

That's great your daughter is getting potty trained! Everyone says it, but the saying seems to ring so true: They will start to use the potty when _they_ are ready. But isn't it funny how much of a motivator it is for them when they see other kids doing things? Have fun kissing the diapers goodbye. It's very liberating!

We got a few from the library and my kids LOVED them. Their favorite was Potty Power which had a song called, "No more diapers for me"--sometimes I still have that song in my head (a year later).
