2 ways to easily freshen up your kitchen on the cheap:
-Eliminate refrigerator odor by setting a cotton ball soaked with vanilla or an open box of baking soda on the lower shelf of the refrigerator.
-Skip spraying fancy airfreshners around your home. Freshen the air throughout your home by filling a pot with water and a couple dashes of cinnamon and bringing to a boil.

Good Tip Sylvia. I also pretty much do the same.Save off the following orange peels, lemon peels. Once a week I boil a pot with the peels and a stick of cinnamon to freshen the house and then I put it in the sink aerator and crush to freshen the sink as well.

I know this is sort of an obvious frugal household tip, but try to cut back on the paper towel usage by using washcloths around the kitchen. I found myself using paper towels way too much, which was costing money and adding to waste. Using washcloths is cheaper and more eco-friendly. Now I keep one on hand for wiping the counters, and another one for wiping the kids' faces after meals. I put out new ones daily.

Sylvia, I like your vanilla cotton ball idea and plan to try it. :-)

Karen,
I have an addition to ur tip. I use bar mop towels as they are super absorbent. Every time I run the dishwasher I put the towel and sponge in the top rack and its clean. Save on laundry.
