Unfortunately, we don't have a Kmart up here anymore. The store that was almost brand new at the time, closed back in 2003, or whenever they were doing all the store closings. The nearest one now is in Hudson, which is a pretty good haul from here.
I've been having great luck with the Winn Dixie meat--I really think it's comparable to Publix now (It used to be really awful!!!!) For a long time I didn't tell my husband that he was eating meat from w/d, because I knew he'd have a fit! Now he knows, and has no problem with it. The other night I made a roast (bottom round, I think) from there, it was sooooo good, he raved for hours about it! I still only buy hamburger from Publix, 'cause he swears he can tell the difference!
It's not at all unusual for me to save $40-70 on my groceries there! I'm feeding a pretty big crew at my house most of the time, so we use a lot of food here.
Thanks for the tip on the sodas at CVS--I'll have my husband stop by there tonite and pick some up.
I just joined yesterday.
Greetings from up the road in Brooksville, just wanted to say "Hello!" My husband lived all his life in Tampa, until we moved up here 20 years ago, went to Chamberlain High School.
We now live on 32 acres of woods, just south of Brooksville--it's very pretty here.
One way I've found to save money is to shop at Dollar General or Family Dollar--you can really save a lot on cleaning products, health & beauty stuff, etc., over supermarket prices.
I also really watch for buy one/get one free deals at Winn Dixie and Publix. Winn Dixie has really upgraded their meat in the past few years (I used to wouldn't buy it there)--and they have some terrific sales on meat. Sweetbay also has good meat specials.
