The end of summer is fast approaching and many retailers are trying to clear the shelves to make room for fall items. Savvy shoppers know that now is the perfect time to stock up on items for next summer. Many stores have clearance sections filled with items that are as much as 90% off! As long as you are careful not to go overboard and do not buy items you don't need, you can save a considerable amount of money by planning ahead and stocking up now.

My favorite thing to stock up on at the end of summer is kid's clothing. I already know that my daughter will need a whole new wardrobe next year, so I definitely do not feel guilty about stocking up. It's also fairly easy to predict what size she will be. Last summer she was a size 2T and this summer she was a size 3T, so right now I am stocking up on 4T items for next year. I highly recommend giving your local Old Navy and TJMaxx a visit. I found some great summer items for her like t-shirts on clearance for $3 and summer dresses for $7. I even found a cute bathing suit for her for only $5. If you have kids of your own or even nieces or nephews who have summer birthdays, now is a great time to stock up!

These stores also had great deals on men's and women's clothing so I was able to stock up on new t-shirts and tanks for my husband and I for $5 or less. These items will not only come in handy for next summer, but we can also start using them now to wear to the gym or layer under clothing for fall and winter.

If you are thinking about getting new patio furniture, lawn equipment or grill next year, now is a great time to shop for deals on these items. If you have the storage space and the extra budget for these items, you will be glad you did not put off buying these items when next summer rolls around. If your husband has had his eye on a new grill or lawnmower and you find one on clearance for a great price, you can also consider buying it now and giving it to him for Christmas!
