Every year, millions of Americans wake up at the crack of dawn on "Black Friday," the Friday after Thanksgiving and wait for hours in cold, dark parking lots in the hopes of jump starting their holiday shopping and scoring a great deal. This year things are going to be a bit different. A rough economy has left everyone trying to cut corners and save more money any way they can. As a result, retailers are hurting and hoping to boost sales by dropping prices and offering Black Friday deals early this year. Some stores like Wal-Mart, Toys 'R' Us and Best Buy already had Pre-Black Friday Sales this past weekend! Many other stores have already disclosed their Black Friday sales circulars online.
To stay on top of all the early sales visit sites like
theblackfriday.com and
bfads.net. By visiting these sites and planning your holiday shopping ahead of time, you will end up saving money, gas and of course—time. Usually the most sought after (and fought after) items on Black Friday are electronics. Since so many stores are posting their Black Friday deals ahead of time, take the opportunity to read online reviews for these items in advance to avoid paying "restocking fees" later if you try to return the item or being stuck with an item that breaks after a few months. The online circulars are great, but its still worthwhile to get yourself a newspaper Thanksgiving day so you can take advantage of all the local deals that were not posted online as well as valuable coupons that you will only find in the paper.
