Grocery Relief Program

Coupons are a great way to save money on groceries, but sometimes when a family is struggling financially—they simply are not enough. Luckily one of our readers told me about a program that is designed to feed a family of four for a week or a single person for almost a month for only $30. They also have a special program designed especially for senior citizens and even a $30 Thanksgiving Dinner Box. All food is fresh and delivered frozen for the customer to pick up at one of their 4800 local host sites. Everyone is eligible to order from this program, so even if you are not struggling and simply want to drastically lower your grocery bill, you can participate in the program.

The program is called Angel Food Ministries, "a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing food relief throughout the United States." Since 1994, the program has grown to help provide food relief to more than 500,000 families each month! The Angel Food Ministires website provides all sorts of information such as this month's menu, finding a local host site and even information on how to become a host site if there is not one in your area. The program also accepts food stamps (EBT) and gives information on how to obtain food stamps if you want to find out if you qualify. Times are tough for many families right now with rising prices and rounds of layoffs across the country, but it's good to know that there are some kind folks out there working to make a difference and helping Americans get back on their feet.
