There are many ways to save on stamps, paper and a trip to the post office or billing site. Every stamp is worth about 5 miles of driving.
Online Bill Pay
If you have a checking account that offers online bill pay, take advantage of this feature. Some banks even offer to have your bills electronically delivered to your account reducing paper. You can view a history of bills paid and even keep a record of your bills. Some banks offer this feature for free and some charge a fee. Check around at different banks and don’t be afraid to switch banks. Sometimes you can find one that offers an incentive to open a free checking account.
Drop Boxes
There may be places you can drop your bill off other than the billing address. My local drugstore accepts payments for my sewer bill. When I regularly shop I just hand my bill over to the cashier and she puts it in the drop box. Call your utilities company and see if they have local businesses that accept their bills.
Drive By
If you’re on your way to somewhere and you know you are going to pass a place where you can pay a bill, do it. Don’t mail it. Pay it and get it over with.
Save Envelopes
Save your envelopes. Some envelopes have prepaid postage on them. Take advantage of these.
Online bill pay is the best option but if you have other options take advantage and save where you can.
